Wednesday, July 1 Shanghai

This is our last day in China and it is our only day without a tour guide. So after sleeping in and taking it easy, we got out of the hotel at about 11 AM. So we took a short walk to the nearest subway station (remember pedestrians are at risk anytime they are sharing the roadway with vehicles). We went about 6 stops towards the downtown and the big buildings. When we emerged from the subway, we could see our destination but there was construction in between. So after a 30 minute walk we arrived at the Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC). This building is 101 floors high and from the observation deck you can see all around the city. SWFC contains offices, restaurants, stores and a hotel. So up we went. The one problem is that it was very smoggy today, so visibility was limited.
